Sometimes it is necessary to modify for a container the "isalive" checks constantly performed by MSCS cluster (e.g. disable some checks or add a specific one, like checking a specific URL on IIS inside CT). It can be done via the following actions.

Per-container configuration

  1. Create per CT "isalive" script: %VZROOT%\private\CTID\scripts\vz-isalive.cmd , e.g:

Note: This script must return 0 on success.

  2. In the script you can use pre-defined CT isalive methods:

vzcluster isalive [--ping] [--rdp] [--rpc] CTID [ip address list]

and explicit specification of isalive check methods --ping, --rdp, --rpc.
By default, all the three methods are invoked.

NOTE: The port for test RDP connection on is taken from container registry:

    C:\> reg query "HKLM\vz16167\MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControl Set\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp" /v portnumber
  3. Scripts have extensions "cmd", "vbs", "bat" -- in that order.

Global configuration

To modify isalive methods for all the Containers, you can change the script %VZROOT%\scripts\vz-isalive.cmd, e.g.:
