1. Subject:

Updated packages for Parallels Infrastructure Manager 4.0 offering user-level tools fix for the following functionality:
  - scalability and performance;
  - installing Parallels Infrastructure Manager updates;
  - infrastructure management;
  - backup and restore procedures;
  - working process with Microsoft clusters;

2. Problem description:

  - Parallels Infrastructure Manager's master node with more than 40 slave nodes works very slowly.
  - In some cases, after installing a new update, Parallels Infrastructure Manager shows wrong information about installed updates.
  - There are no command line utilities for managing the infrastructure tree.
  - Parallels Infrastructure Manager's command line tool for restoring Virtuozzo Containers may restore an invalid Container if incorrect command line was specified.
  - Some of the Parallels Infrastructure Manager's services under Windows may have crashes occasionally.
  - Sometimes Parallels Infrastructure Manager shows "No Hardware Node could be found" error message during the template installation.
  - Parallels Infrastructure Manager and Parallels Management Console show a Hardware Node network adapters name with the postfix "SWsoft Network Bridge".
  - Some icons are missing in Plesk Power Panel 9.0.

It is highly recommended to update the Parallels Infrastructure Manager 4.0 tools packages.

3. Affected components description:

  -  Parallels Infrastructure Manager 4.0 is a tool designed for managing Hardware Nodes and all Virtuozzo Containers residing on them with the help of a standard Web browser on any platform.
  - Parallels Management Console is a Virtuozzo Containers management and monitoring tool with the graphical user interface. It is used to control individual Hardware Nodes and their Containers. Management Console is cross-platform and runs on both Microsoft Windows and Linux workstations.
   - Parallels Power Panel is a means for administering individual Virtuozzo Containers with the help of a standard Web browser on any platform.

5. Obtaining and installing:

Installing in Windows:

Note: On a Windows Hardware Node, do not install this update unless VZU400008 (Parallels Virtuozzo Containers update 8) is installed.

On the Hardware Node, run the Virtuozzo Update wizard (vzupdate.exe) and follow the instructions. This wizard will install the latest Parallels Infrastructure Manager updates and hotfixes in the correct sequence.

The update does not require Virtuozzo restart or system reboot.

Installing in Linux:

You can download an update with the help of the vzup2date utility included in the Virtuozzo Containers 4.0 distribution.

To install in Linux:

1. Use the "rpm -Fhv" command to install the new Virtuozzo Containers tools packages.


2. Make sure that the Service Container on the Node is running and issue the following command:

# vzsveupgrade --skip-client -d <path_to_this_update_directory>

The update does not require Virtuozzo restart or system reboot.
