On Parallels Virtuozzo Containers 4.0, we have mounted a remote NFS storage as a "/vz" partition.

While caching the OS EZ template ubuntu-8.10-x86_64, the following error message is shown:

--- 8< ---
cp: preserving permissions for `/etc/nsswitch.conf': Operation not supported
--- 8< ---

The problem seems to be caused by a "squash" or "acl" option on the NFS server side; you should disable it.

For an example, please see

In the event of "acl" option usage, remount the NFS storage on your Parallels Virtuozzo Containers server for the "/vz" partition with the "noacl" option.

The "Operation not supported" error in the cp-message above means that ACLs cannot be preserved, and it is a problem of NFSv3.

After reconfiguration of the "/vz" partition, try "vzpkg create cache" again.
