SymptomsParallels Infrastructure Manager (PIM) stores events, resource logs, and operation logs in a database inside the service container. If the Master node in PIM is a Windows Microsoft SQL server, Desktop Engine (MSDE) is used as a database store inside the service container. MySQL is used if the Master node in PIM is a Linux server.
MSDE has a limitation that does not allow you more than 2 GB of the database. PIM data may grow beyond the limit, however. If this occurs, it is recommended to clear the database of old events, resource logs, and operation logs.
ResolutionThis article provides scripts that clear the database of old records on the Master node of the PIM infrastructure.
If the Master node is a Windows 2003 server, use the attached win_w2k3_remove_old_logs.cmd script.
If the Master node is a Windows 2008 server, use the attached win_w2k8_remove_old_logs.cmd script.
Note that the script has a hardcoded DAYS_TO_LEAVE variable (number of days for which DB entries are left). The value is changed directly in the script file.
If the Master node is a Linux server, use the attached lin_remove_old_logs.sh script. The Linux script accepts the DAYS_TO_LEAVE value as a command line parameter.
