  • Plesk 9.0 for Linux/Unix

You may reproduce the problem using the following procedure:

  1. Configure the remote FTP server to work in passive mode.
  2. In Parallels Plesk Panel, configure the settings of the personal FTP repository (Domains -> domain.tld -> Backup Manager -> Personal FTP Repository Settings), and enable the option Use passive mode. The option should configure Plesk Backup Manager to work with the FTP repository in passive mode.
  3. Configure a scheduled backup to place a dump file in the personal FTP repository.

You may see that an empty backup is placed in the personal FTP repository; the backup file has a size of 0KB. Or, you may see that the backup has not been created at all.

However, the backup is created and placed in the personal FTP repository correctly if you create it manually with Domains -> domain.tld -> Backup Manager -> Back Up.

The scheduled backup task does not use the "passive mode" option, even it is specified in "Personal FTP Repository Settings."

However, the option is used in manual backups started with the Back Up button .

The problem has been fixed in Parallels Plesk Panel since version 9.5.1.

As a solution for Parallels Plesk Panel versions 9.0, 9.2, and 9.3, it is recommended to configure the FTP server (Personal FTP Repository) in active mode.
