When I try to use the "Connect to Web Folder" feature on a Windows server, I receive an error:

"The folder you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another"

WebClient service, which enables WebDAV redirector, is not set up by default on the server. To look into this, run this command:

C:\Users\Administrator>sc query WebClient

If you are using Windows Server 2008, you need to install the Desktop Experience feature. To do so, use the following steps:

   1. Start the Windows Server Manager.
   2. In the tree view, highlight the "Features" node.
   3. In the details pane, click "Add Features."
   4. In the Add Features Wizard, check the "Desktop Experience" box, and then click "Next."
   5. Click "Install."
   6. When the Add Features Wizard has finished, click "Close."
   7. Click "Yes" when prompted to restart the computer.

WINDOWS 2003 and 2000:

1) Open Start -> Run.
2) Type in services.msc and hit "Enter."
3) In the window that appears, find the WebClient line and right-click on it.
4) Choose "Properties."
5) Set the startup type to "Automatic."
6) Apply changes and start the service.
Then it is necessary to check the ability to connect to the shared folder, using either the command line below or GUI tools:

C:\Users\Administrator>net use Z: /USER:USERNAME PASSWORD
The command completed successfully.

C:\Users\Administrator>net use

Status       Local     Remote                    Network
                Z:        \\\files\private\admin         Web Client Network
The command completed successfully.
