  • Plesk 9.0 for Linux/Unix

Symptoms

Parallels Plesk Panel version 9.x shows a huge amount of traffic for the domain. And it is not equal the amount of http traffic which is shown on AWStats/Webalizer http statistics page for this domain.
1000 TB/Month can be shown in Parallels Plesk Panel for the domain.

Cause

access_log of the domain contains records with long User-Agent description which contains lots of numbers. Log parser counts those numbers in User-Agent description as traffic.
Here is example of the incorrect file access_log. After processing such record, Plesk will show large http traffic for the domain.
~# grep 24/Jun/2010 access_log.processed* | perl -lne 'BEGIN {$max=0} {$curlen = length($_); if($curlen>$max) { print ; $max = $curlen } }' | tail -1
access_log.processed.1:86.170.249.34 - - [24/Jun/2010:12:56:44 -0400] "GET /pic2.js HTTP/1.1" 200 1927 "http://domain.com/index.html" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; 9768060603; patch:00322; 986705603; 669607488903; 878902366903; 98670727803; 99960903; 988707045803; 66760974903; 69990496903; 879900603; 967906746603; 79880304603; 696902603; 6989024803; 9996089603; 8789008903; 796805095903; 997609903; 97680125803; 789907703; 8987019603; 99760156603; 997601816803; 8997014803; 66760800803; 979804703; 799806968603; 96790118603; 886809803; 997609411803; 979800903; 79980703; 98870703; 988701181903; 967907177703; 979906803; 988700157803; 9778023803; 97980212703; 99760803; 99860261803; 696900992703; 7978076603; 87790483903; 886808603;
