Unable to switch the language in Webmail in Plesk for Debian/Ubuntu. Even if another language is chosen, Webmail is shown in English.

  1. Make sure that the language shown after logging is not set forcibly for the account on the Options -> Locale and Time page in the Webmail interface.

  2. If not, the language you are trying to set in Webmail is most likely not configured in your system. You have to configure the corresponding locale with UTF-8 charset by running the following commands.

    For Debian:

    # dpkg-reconfigure locales

    For Ubuntu:

    # locale-gen en_US.UTF-8

(en_US.UTF-8 should be replaced with the locale you need. A list of available locales can be found in /usr/share/i18n/SUPPORTED.)

  3. Restart Apache:

    # /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
  4. If it still doesn't work, attempt to make Horde use its own locale files with these commands:

    # export TEXTDOMAINDIR=/usr/share/psa-horde/locale
    # /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
  5. Also, you may add this line into the Apache start script /etc/init.d/apache2 and restart Apache:

    export TEXTDOMAINDIR=/usr/share/psa-horde/locale
