  • Virtuozzo containers for Windows 4.6

Parallels Virtual Automation 4.6 does not support compatibility with Virtuozzo 3.x. As a result, Containers cannot be migrated from Virtuozzo 3.5.1 servers to Parallels Containers 4.6 for Windows hosts using the PMC or CLI tools.

If you need to migrate your Containers from a Virtuozzo 3.5.1 server to a Parallels Containers 4.6 for Windows host, do one of the following:

1. Perform the in-place upgrade of the Virtuozzo 3.5.1 server to Parallels Containers 4.6;

2. Use the Parallels Containers 4.5 installation as an intermediate in migration.

In this case, you first need to migrate the Containers from Virtuozzo 3.5.1 to Parallels Container 4.5 via VZMC or PMC.

The Service Container must be created in the compatibility mode on the PVC 4.5 server.  The Source (VZ 3.5.1) and Target (PVC 4.5) servers are to be registered in VZMC/PMC through SSH.
After the Containers are moved to PVC 4.5, you can migrate them to the PVC 4.6 host using the 4.x management tools such as PMC, PIM or PVA.

3. Use the backup/restore method to migrate the Containers from 3.5.1 to 4.6.
In this case, you have to back up the Containers on Virtuozzo 3.5.1, then move the backups to the Parallels Containers 4.6 server and restore them.

Note: If you use PMC to restore Containers refer to How to restore container's backup created on Virtuozzo 3.5.1 to PVC 4.6 node article for instructions.
4. Perform a manual migration as described in this article: How do I migrate Virtuozzo Containers manually.
