General information

Micro-update functionality is available in Plesk of versions 8.6 and later. It is implemented via autoinstaller utility, that can be used either in graphical mode or command line.

NOTE: During Micro-Update installation, the Panel service will be restarted.

In Plesk 9.5.5 and later, the functionality is available from the Panel under the "Updates" section.

Note: For installing micro-updates in EZ Templates, please see this Knowledge Base article: Installation of Micro-Updates if Plesk for Linux is installed inside containers by means of Virtuozzo template

Step-by-Step Guidance

There are two ways to install micro-updates for Plesk and Small Business Panel.

  1. Using command line interface:

    Linux:

    # $PRODUCT_ROOT_D/admin/sbin/autoinstaller

    Note: The $PRODUCT_ROOT_D variable in the command should be replaced with its value according to this Knowledge Base article: Plesk variables.

    For installing the latest Plesk micro-updates non-interactively, use the following command:

    # $PRODUCT_ROOT_D/admin/sbin/autoinstaller --select-product-id plesk --select-release-current --reinstall-patch --install-component panel

    For Small Business Panel:

    # $PRODUCT_ROOT_D/admin/sbin/autoinstaller --select-product-id ppsmbe --select-release-current --reinstall-patch --install-component base

    Windows:

    To install all micro-updates on Plesk or Plesk Small Business Panel 10 for Windows, use the following command:

    "%plesk_dir%\admin\bin\ai.exe" --select-product-id panel --select-release-current --reinstall-patch --install-component panel

    Another product ID can be used instead of panel in the above command. Use the following command to see all available product IDs:

    %plesk_dir%\admin\bin\ai.exe --show-all-releases
    --- prod_id release_id (description) (branch) ---
    panel PANEL_10_4_4_WIN (Plesk 10.4.4) (currently installed)
    panel PANEL_10_3_1_WIN (Plesk 10.3.1) (stable)
    ...
    ppsmbe PPSMBE_10_2_0_WIN (Small Business Panel 10.2.0) (stable)
    plesk-updates PLESK_9_5_5_WIN (Plesk 9.5.5 updates) (stable)

  2. Using graphical interface:

    a. Plesk 9.5: Home -> Updates > Select the Plesk version that has the updates -> Click Install.

    b. Plesk 10.0.1: Server Management > Tools & Utilities > Updates > Update Components > Click Continue.

    c. Small Business Panel: Settings > Updates > Click Continue.

Checking whether micro-updates are installed on the system

Since Plesk 10.4, installed micro-updates can be checked under the "Updates" section of Plesk graphical interface.

For earlier Plesk versions:

Linux:

Check the /root/.autoinstaller/microupdates.xml file:

    # cat /root/.autoinstaller/microupdates.xml

It should contain the latest patch version:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <patches>
      <product id="plesk" version="10.0.1">
        <patch version="1" timestamp=""/>
      </product>
    </patches>

This text means that micro-update #1 is installed on Plesk. For example, if < patch version="6" timestamp="" /> is shown, it means that micro-update #6 is installed.

Windows:

Check the C:\ParallelsInstaller\microupdates.xml file.

Alternatively, registry can be checked:

For 64-bit systems:

    C:\Users\Administrator>reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PLESK\PSA Config\Config" |findstr InstalledPatches
    InstalledPatches REG_SZ panel-10.4.4-39

For 32-bit systems:

    C:\Users\Administrator>reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PLESK\PSA Config\Config" | findstr InstalledPatches
