  • Applies to:
  • Plesk 9.5 for Windows

Symptoms

Install "Media Service 3" on Parallels Plesk Panel. After Plesk service restart Control Panel will not be available due to permission issue.

Resolution

This behaviour can be reproduced on x86 platform as well as on x64 platform.
You can use following workaround to fix a problem:

1. After Parallels Plesk Panel installation open file %plesk_dir\etc\DiskSecurity\DiskSecurity.xml and insert next text block:

   <!-- Program Files\IIS\Media (for IIS Media Services) -->
    <Entry AccounType="1" Account="Psacln" Path="{ProgramFiles}" Comment="C:\Program Files\IIS\Media"
        SubPath="IIS\Media" AceFlags="ThisFolderSubfoldersAndFiles" AccessMask="ReadAndExecute" EntryFlags="0x40" />
    <Entry AccounType="1" Account="Psaadm" Path="{ProgramFiles}" Comment="C:\Program Files\IIS\Media"
        SubPath="IIS\Media" AceFlags="ThisFolderSubfoldersAndFiles" AccessMask="ReadAndExecute" EntryFlags="0x40" />

2. Execute command:

on x86 platform:
"%plesk_bin%\ApplySecurity.exe" --apply-to-directory --directory="%ProgramFiles%"

on x64 platform:
"%plesk_bin%\ApplySecurity.exe" --apply-to-directory --directory="%ProgramFiles(x86)%"

3. If you have alredy installed 'IIS Media Service 3' before step 2, go to Administrative Tools -> Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager -> your IIS server -> Application Pools and start manually 'plesk(default)(2.0)(pool)' and 'PleskControlPanel'.
