A customer configured custom Error Documents for their IIS 7 website in the Customer Control Panel (Plesk or Parallels Automation). However, their custom error documents do not work - the default ones are shown.

The possible reason of the problem is that the website or the whole server is configured to show detailed error messages in IIS, in this case custom error documents configured in the Panel are not used.

You may check and modify site settings in the IIS Manager on the Windows Hosting server:

  • Log into Windows server where website is running

  • Run the IIS Manager and find the needed website (or you may click the server name at the top of the tree to change this setting serverwide)

  • Double-click the 'Error Pages' link

  • Click on the needed error document, e.g. '404'

  • You will see alert 'You have configured detailed error messages to be returned for both local and remote requests. When this option is selected, custom error configuration is not used.'

  • Click the 'Edit Feature Settings' link

  • Choose 'Custom Error Pages'

  • Click 'OK'
